~Early Primitive Dovetailed & Square Nailed Dough Box In Original Old Madder~

I am offering for your consideration a fabulous early primitive table top dough box with an old oxblood madder brown surface.

The canted corners are all hand dovetailed, while the bottom was constructed with early hand made square and irregular nails (as shown).

This piece has a nice canted form and was constructed with single boards on all sides. Early! This piece does not, nor does not appear to have ever had a lid.

It measures 14 1/2 inches x 25 1/2 inches (top edge). The sides are 9 1/2 inches tall. The base measures 11 inches x 22 3/4 inches.

I consider this piece a primitive, with an appropriately aged surface. There is some separation of the dovetails and overall wear.

This early primitive box will be absolutely PERFECT to display your early wooden bowls and stacks of early homespuns!

Circa: early to mid 1800's. Adams County Pennsylvania.
